⚪ About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Conference & Events Account Manager to join our Commercial team as the iconic Cheltenham Racecourse. The Conference and Events Account Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by proactively identifying and securing new conference, meeting, and event business, while also managing and expanding relationships within an existing client portfolio.

This role requires a blend of new business development skills and strategic account management to ensure long-term client success and repeat business. Managing the entire sales cycle from initial enquiry and proposal through to contract negotiation and event handover to the operations team, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.

🟢 The Conference & Events Account Manager will

  • Build and grow strong, long-term relationships with key clients and agencies, driving repeat business and client loyalty.
  • Maximise account value through strategic upselling and cross-selling of products, services and event enhancements.
  • Own and execute account plans to increase revenue, share of wallet and overall profitability across assigned clients.
  • Proactively generate new business through targeted prospecting, networking, industry events and reactivation of lapsed accounts.
  • Manage and convert inbound enquiries, creating compelling proposals and negotiating contracts to achieve high conversion rates.
  • Develop and deliver focused sales strategies across corporate, MICE, association and social event segments.
  • Maintain a robust and accurate sales pipeline, CRM and forecasts to support performance tracking and decision-making.
  • Act as the commercial lead for clients, ensuring seamless handover to events and operations teams for exceptional event delivery.

🔵 About you

  • Experience in account management or sales, with a proven ability to manage and grow existing client relationships in a target-driven environment.
  • Comfortable supporting account growth through upselling and cross-selling, with an understanding of how to maximise value across client portfolios.
  • Background in events, venues or hospitality, with a genuine interest in delivering great client experiences.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to build rapport and run effective client conversations both in person and over the phone.
  • Relationship-focused and service-led, taking pride in providing a high standard of ongoing client support.
  • Well organised with strong attention to detail, able to juggle multiple accounts, enquiries and deadlines.
  • Process-aware and confident using CRM systems to track activity, manage pipelines and support accurate forecasting.
  • Collaborative and reliable team player who works closely with events and operations teams to ensure smooth handovers and successful delivery.
